This first picture is just funny to me. If you're wondering about Tansy's clothing situation, she has a bad habit of putting her shirt in her mouth, so I take it off if she does. Shirtlessness was not a good reason to miss out on this picture. On the 11th, we were supposed to have a women and daughters campout for church. They cancelled it because of the weather, and we were in tornado watch half the night. The girls were so disappointed that I decided to set up the tent in the living room.
Yesterday was a super busy day. We lef the house at 8:45 to drive to Independence for family portraits. The session went remarkably well considering the nearly impossible task of getting everyone to look happy and in the same direction at the same time. The one picture that could have been great, I had my eyes half closed.

While Ben and I were looking at the pictures with the photographer, the kids were playing on the bench behind us. Sydney decided that Tyler needed come up and get in the action. He ended up plunging head first to the floor. I hate the sound of my kid's head hitting cement. He also got burns on his nose from the industrial carpet. At least we'd already taken the pictures, right?

We then headed to our favorite pizza place in Independence. We should have figured it out when we saw the bus parked next to the restaurant. We got in and saw that the line was really long. Then two more buses full of teenagers showed up. I didn't want to fight them for food so we left with some very sad children. We knew we had seen another place in Lee's Summit and used the GPS to get there. Poor Zack just sat in the back saying, "Pay-ta, Mom. Pay-ta." Everyone perked back up when we got to the other, MUCH less busy pizza place.

Then is was off to the Wings over Whiteman Air Show. We saw lots of planes, and Ben took everyone but Tyler in a cargo plane. We got a shot with the B-2.
We have a lot of pictures from the air show. I took four. Sydney took 64. Here are my favorites from Sydney:

She likes closeups.

Since we got there in the afternoon, we were there for the best shows including the Army's Golden Knights and the Air Force's Thunderbirds. Unfortunately, this storm you can see coming in cut the Thunderbirds' show short.

You can imagine we were some very sleepy people when we got home. We watched our friends' little girl while they had a date at home, but they ran over to get her early since the weather was getting bad. We had crazy lightning last night. Ben went out to watch the lightning and the kids followed him. I heard Zack start crying and Ben say, "It's okay. It's just a frog." I went out to see if everything was okay. Zack had tried to pick up the frog and gotten scared when it moved. Ben caught the frog, and everyone started freaking out. Ben and I were cracking up as we got the kids back in the house. Silly children.
